LAIDI PALACE RESIDENCY

Laidi Palace Residency is a place for isolation, tranformation and creation.

Located in the Latvian countryside, surrounded by forests, ponds, and wetlands, the historic manor house that hosts the residency creates a unique atmosphere for deep concentration and artistic work. Founded in 2023 by a group of interdisciplinary artists, the residency serves both as a retreat and as a gateway to the contemporary Latvian art scene, fostering dialogue between local and international practices.

The residency provides on-site accommodation with private or shared rooms, shared living areas, a common kitchen and dining space, and co-working areas that support everyday life and artistic exchange.

In addition to living spaces, artists have access to dedicated working environments including a ceramic atelier, a carpentry and wood-working workshop, indoor and outdoor performance and presentation zones, and shared production spaces. The residency is equipped with an indoor ambisonic sound environment and essential tools for audio-visual installations, enabling the creation of works across multiple artistic disciplines.

Beyond its core residency program, Laidi Palace Residency hosts performances, workshops, seminars, screenings, and public events.

These activities invite artists to engage with the distinct atmosphere of the palace while opening their practices to new audiences. Events often bring together visiting artists and the local community, creating moments of exchange and shared experience.

Laidi Palace Residency actively collaborates with the local community, engaging in projects that combine education, artistic research, and collective creation.

Through long-term and ongoing initiatives, contemporary artists from Latvia and abroad work together with local individuals, schools, and cultural initiatives.
